TRAUMA THERAPY

Where you reclaim steadiness—in your body, your story, and your life

Let's Get Started

Trauma can come from one moment or a thousand small ones.

Trauma might stem from a recent event that turned your world upside down, trace back to early relationships, where love was inconsistent, boundaries were unclear, or you had to make yourself small to feel safe.

Whether it happened all at once or over years, trauma often shows up in how you think, feel, react, and relate to others. You might feel on edge, disconnected, emotionally overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and resilient, and still carry pain that affects their present. Trauma-focused therapy offers a consistent and contained space to understand what you’ve been through, grieve in a healthy way, and regain a sense of empowerment in your life.

Maybe you’ve noticed being caught in a cycle of:

- Numbness followed by overwhelming feelings

- Overthinking and self-criticism, despite success

- Staying hyper-alert or “on guard” as if something bad is about to happen

- Struggling to trust others or relax in relationships, even when you want to connect

- Carrying shame or guilt for things that weren’t your fault—but won’t let go

- Pushing yourself hard to keep it all together, while feeling exhausted

Common examples of trauma
that show up in my work

Trauma therapy isn't just for major, life-threatening events. Many of my clients are healing from experiences that others might minimize, but are very real and impactful.

Childhood Experiences

These shape how you feel and relate to the world today

  • Parent divorce, separation, or ongoing conflict

  • Emotional neglect or inconsistent caregiving

  • Bullying or social rejection

  • Growing up in a household with addiction, mental illness, or instability

Loss and Change

  • Adjusting to life after a big loss (e.g. death of a loved one, miscarriage)

  • Facing difficult medical diagnoses for yourself or a loved one

  • Sudden life changes that left you feeling disoriented, insecure, and uncertain

Recent or Past Experiences

Where you felt unsafe, unseen, or disrespected

  • Relationship trauma (emotional abuse, betrayal, gaslighting)

  • Sexual assault or harassment

  • Accidents or medical trauma

  • Workplace trauma or bullying

Complex Trauma

  • Ongoing difficult relationships or environments over time

  • Patterns that trace back to multiple experiences rather than one event

Trauma therapy offers a grounded and supportive space to work through painful experiences from your past. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, making sense of memories, emotions, and patterns in ways that help you feel steady, focused, and in control.

You’ll gain a clear understanding of how your mind and body have carried these experiences, and how trauma may have shaped your sense of self and the world around you. Through this work, you’ll rebuild resilience, sharpen your mindset, and move forward feeling more grounded, strong, and self-assured.

What Trauma Therapy Looks like

Understanding Your Story

We'll explore how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, others, and the world. You'll gain clarity about why certain situations trigger you, why relationships feel difficult, or why you respond in ways that don't always make sense to you.

What Trauma Therapy Looks like

Processing What Happened

Using evidence-based approaches like EMDR, we'll help your brain and body process traumatic memories so they lose their emotional charge. This isn't about reliving the trauma—it's about helping your nervous system finally release what it's been holding onto.

Reclaiming Your Sense of Self

You'll build resilience and strengthen your sense of self as you move forward feeling grounded, strong, and self-assured. You'll have an understanding of how your mind and body have carried these experiences, and how trauma may have shaped your sense of self and the world around you.

Building New Patterns

You'll learn practical tools to regulate your emotions, manage triggers, set boundaries, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. These aren't just coping strategies —they're skills that create lasting change.

Why Trauma Therapy With Me Is Different

I Understand Trauma

I'll never ask you to explore the deeper parts of your story without having done that work myself. My own journey through pain and healing informs how I show up for clients—with empathy, authenticity, and a deep respect for how hard this work can be.

We Move At Your Pace

There's no pressure to share everything at once or dive into painful memories before you're ready. We'll build a foundation of safety and trust first, then move forward in ways that feel manageable and empowering.

Evidence-Based Approaches

My primary modality for trauma treatment is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is extensively researched and highly effective for PTSD and complex trauma. I also integrate somatic interventions, CBT, and attachment-focused work as needed.

It’s Not Just Talk Therapy

While talking is part of the process, trauma lives in the body—not just the mind. We'll work with both to help you fully heal and integrate your experiences.

FAQS

Common questions about trauma therapy

  • No. Especially with EMDR, you only need to share what you're comfortable with. As long as you can hold the experience in your own mind, your brain will do the processing work. We can also move at whatever pace feels safe for you in traditional talk therapy.

  • If an experience is affecting how you think, feel, or function in your daily life—it counts. Trauma isn't just about what happened to you, but how your nervous system responded to it. You don't need to compare your pain to anyone else's to deserve support.

  • That's completely normal. Trauma can affect memory, and you don't need to have a complete narrative to heal. We can work with whatever pieces you do remember, and often more clarity comes as we process.

  • No. While we do engage with painful memories, the goal is to process them in a way that feels safe and contained. With EMDR especially, you're observing the memory rather than being immersed in it, and we have tools to help you stay grounded throughout.

  • It varies. Some clients working on a single traumatic event may see significant progress in a few months. Complex trauma that developed over years may take longer to work through. We'll check in regularly on your progress and adjust our approach as needed.

  • Yes. Most of my clients are working, parenting, and managing full lives while doing trauma work. We'll pace the work so it's therapeutic, not destabilizing, and you'll learn tools to help you stay grounded between sessions.

  • Healing from trauma doesn't mean forgetting or pretending it didn't happen. It means the memories lose their emotional charge, you understand how it shaped you, and you develop the resilience to move forward without being controlled by the past.

Your past doesn’t get to write
your whole story

You've carried this pain long enough. Trauma therapy can help you understand what happened, process it in healthy ways, and reclaim your sense of safety, control, and possibility.
